Firkit played with his ball of moss. Then he sneezed.
ReplyDeleteAspentail fumbled around in her nest. The weight of her kits made her feel sluggish. She groaned and decided to sleep.
ReplyDeleteBlackash padded into the nursery. "Aspentail?" he called.
ReplyDeleteAspentail's eyes fluttered open. "Yes?" She yawned.
ReplyDeleteBlackash stalked forwards and pressed his flank to hers. "Are you OK?"
ReplyDelete"Yeah... I'm just tired...the kits are keeping me from sleeping though..." She groaned. "I feel like they're gonna come soon.."
ReplyDeleteBlackash looked at her worriedly. He rushed out into the clearing.
ReplyDeleteAspentail felt a sharp pain in her abdomen. "The....Kits...are... COMING..."
ReplyDeleteBlackash dashed back into the nursery. He stayed with Aspentail, pacing around, waiting for another cat to come in and help.
ReplyDeleteAspentail yowled in pain. Bluemoon dashed to get the medicine cat. Firpaw stood at the entrance of the nursery, watching his sister give birth. (uh...)

ReplyDeleteBlackash was panicking inside the nursery. "Uhhhhhh" He said.
It was too late. The kits started coming out. Bluemoon came back with all the supplies needed and slowly eased the kits out. Soon, the kits were squirming around their mother's belly, suckling.
ReplyDeleteFirpaw realized he was an uncle and was scared. Bluemoon smiled.
Blackash padded forward to Aspentail. He licked in between her ears. "Well done," he said, grinning. (can cats grin?)
ReplyDeleteAspentail looked at her kits. A sense of warmth rushed through her. "What should we name them?"
ReplyDeleteBlackash looked down at the tiny bundles. "We should name this one Goldenkit," he said, pointing at the only she-cat. "She looks just like you."

ReplyDeleteAspentail looked at the other two. "This one will be Plumkit," she said, looking at the chubby, dark brown one, "...and his brother will be Wolfkit." She glanced at her other son, who was grey and white, just like a wolf.
Blackash smiled and looked down at his kits proudly. "They're lovely names," he whispered into Aspentail's ear.
ReplyDeleteSnowkit bounded into the nursery. "New kits!" he squeaked. Moonstar followed him, nipping his scruff to make him be quiet.
ReplyDeleteAspentail smiled at the young kit. "Yes Snowkit. Soon you'll be able to play with them!"
ReplyDeletePlumkit had just woken up. He could hear his brother squirming.
ReplyDelete"When will his eyes open?"
He could hear his mother answer,
"Be patient, Wolfkit. They will soon."
Plumkit smiled.
Yes, they will soon.
He fell asleep once more.
It wasn't long before he woke up again. He yawned, and stretched his eyes open for the first time. His eyes were overwhelmed by a mass of color. He closed them. Then he opened them again, more slowly. He could see his uncle, Firpaw, jumping around the clearing. He could also see Moonstar standing on top of the Great Boulder, proudly looking down at her clan.
"So this is what the world looks like."
The peace was broken by a squeak from Wolfkit.
"HIS EYES OPENED! YAAAAAAY"
Plumkit smiled at his brother.
They both looked down at their sister, who was starting to fidget.
Blackash padded into the nursery as soon as Goldenkit stirred. She mewled and snuggled closer to Aspentail. Blackash looked down at his kits. "Hello, children," he said to them.

Wolfkit looked up at his father.
"HI DAD!"
Aspentail smiled.
"Goldenkit's eyes still haven't opened; Plumkit's just did. Wolfkit's opened this morning..."
Blackash nodded in understanding and smiled down at his kits. "Have any great adventures yet?" he asked, recalling back to the time when he was a small kit as well.

"YEA IT DOES!"
"NO IT DOESN'T!"
"Shh.... guys, you'll wake up everyone."
"But it's sunhigh!"
"People do take naps you know. Especially me, now that I have you three to take care of."
Plumkit and Wolfkit looked sad. Goldenkit turned over in her sleep.
"It's ok, I like to!"
Plumkit and Wolfkit smiled hopefully. (XD)
Blackash purred in amusement. He sat down next to Aspentail and watched their kits wrestle on the nursery ground.

Blackash smiled. "Of course," he said. "Both of yours did, right? Her time will come."
ReplyDelete"Well I hope it comes soon... then we can go to the clearing and play!" Wolfkit grumbled.
ReplyDeleteBlackash grinned and went off to get a piece of fresh kill for Aspentail. While he was gone, Goldenkit stretched out her small body and sat up, blinking open her eyes. "IT'S THE WORLD!!!!!!!" she thought.

ReplyDelete"SHE OPENED HEr EYES! LETS GO PLAY!!!!!"
Then all rushed out of the nursery. Well, they tried to.
"Not so fast guys, let Goldenkit get used to it first."
So they waited.
Then they all rushed out into the clearing to explore the camp.
Willowkit bounded into the nursery. "Hiya! I'm Willowkit!" Then she looked around. No kits. "Where is everybody?" She asked with a confused look on her face.
ReplyDeleteGoldenpaw peeked into the nursery. "Hi!" she said. "You're Willowkit, right?"
ReplyDelete"Yep!" Willowkit bounced around the nursery excitedly.
ReplyDeleteGoldenpaw smiled. "I hope you can be an apprentice soon!" she called. "Then we can train together!"

ReplyDeleteStarshine poked her head in the place looked comfortable. She looked at Rockmelt then she picked a nest at the back and settled down.
ReplyDeleteRockmelt looked around. "It seems safe enough," he commented.

ReplyDeleteStarshine woke up just before dawn with a great pain. She groaned, then gaped."Rockmelt" she wisperd.
ReplyDeleteRockmelt padded into the den, holding a piece of fresh kill, when he spotted Starshine. He quickly raced over to her. "Starshine, what's wrong?" he asked urgently.
ReplyDelete"Perfect... Timing" Starshine said between breaths. "I think..That the.. Kits want.. To join.. Hawkclan..Right now.." Starshine mewed.
ReplyDeleteRockmelt jumped up in surprise. "I-I'll go get Ripplestep!" he said, voice shaking. "You stay here!" The tom dashed out of the den.
ReplyDeleteRippplestep came running in with a bundle of herbs in her mouth. She asked Rockmelt urgently, "Is Plumpaw in camp? *sigh* Forget Plumpaw!" With that, she settled down beside Starshine. She put her paw on her belly and muttered, "This is going to take a while... Rockmelt! Go and get some water for Starshine." She unwrapped the bundle of herbs that was with her. "Oh yeah! Can you also get somecat to find Plumpaw?? I need him here now!" Then she turned back to Starshine and gave her a stick. "Here. If it hurts, bite on it. I have to get more herbs." She ran out of the den.
ReplyDeleteRockmelt came padding in with some moss soaked in water. "Drink some if you want," he said, setting it down next to Starshine and licking her between the ears comfortingly.
ReplyDeleteStarshine breathed she had heard stories about kitting she winched as another shot of pain to her, then the kits started to come out. Starshine bit the stick.
ReplyDeleteRipplestep said, "Relax as much as you can. That's right..." She quickly grabbed some leaves and chewed it to pulp. Then gave it to Starshine. "Eat these, it'll help your stomach." Then she said, "The first one's coming." Then a dark tabby tumbled into the nest. Feeling Starshine's belly, "I think theres 3 more to go..."

ReplyDelete"What do I need to do?" he panicked; it was his first kitting anyways.
Starshine ate the leaves immediately her stomach felt less crowed. Soon another kit came it was a cream tabby she-cat. Starshine breathed deeply 2 down a few to go she thought.
ReplyDeleteWhen the whole thing was over, Rockmelt padded to his mate; the new mother. "You did perfectly," he said. "Should we name them?"
ReplyDeleteAfter some thought, the two decided on Dawnkit, Nightkit, and Sunkit.
Starshine sat proudly staring at her new kits. She loved them all very much.
ReplyDeleteNightkit blinked his eyes open and shut them immediately. "It's so bright!" He squeaked, his already big paws covering his eyes. It was surprising that a kit would open his eyes on his first day out- usually, it was four days before they were opened.
ReplyDeleteStarshine looked down at him "did he just talk?" She asked to no one. "Hello little one" she said.
ReplyDeleteNext to Starshine, Sunkit squealed, eyes still closed.
ReplyDelete(Poppykit's also their kit! So 4! :D)
Starshine's eyes grew wide. "Rockmelt! They squeak and talk!" Starshine announced her discovery to Rockmelt. "Hey it is dark in here! Somebody turn the lights on!" Dawnkit said squirming.
ReplyDeleteRipplestep meowed, "Plumpaw, just lick/rub the fur in the opposite way to warm the kits up." Right after she said that, the remaining 2 kits dropped into the mossy nest.
ReplyDeletePlumpaw nodded and proceeded to do the licking, feeling the warm fur of the kits on his tongue.
ReplyDeleteRipplestep chewed some leaves and pushed them towards Starshine, "Here, this is borage and it'll help your milk!" WIth that, she dashed out of the den to report to Moonstar.
ReplyDeleteStarshine ate the leaves. And the kits started to suckle. Starshine felt at peace.
ReplyDeleteA scruffy tortoiseshell and white kit and a sleek furred tortoiseshell padded into the nursery. "New kits!" Poppykit squealed. "Quiet," Sorrelkit whispered. Poppykit rolled her eyes. "Shut up!" she hissed. "Nobody asked you to mentor me!" Sorrelkit looked down. "I'm sorry."
ReplyDeletePoppykit lashed her tail, then padded and sniffed Wolfkit. "He looks like a mouse. And-" She was cut off by her tortoiseshell sister. "No he doesn't!" The two were always arguing.
Thunderscar groaned. It felt as if her kits would come any day now. She did like being in the nursery, though. Poppykit and Sorrelkit played nearby, an other kits happily pounced on one another.
ReplyDeleteLionfang poked his head in. "How are you doing, Thunderscar?" he asked.
"Fine, for now. My kits will come soon. I just hope it doesn't hurt too much."
Lionfang laughed. "Ripplestep will make sure that you're just fine."
"Yeah, but can he stop the pain?" Lionfang didn't answer. "I didn't think so."
Thunderscar stretched, and then she felt it... Little ripples of pain from her belly. "Go get Ripplestep! My kists are coming!" she cried to Starshine.

ReplyDeleteRainfall came padding in. He said, "Sorry.. But Ripplestep is out collecting herbs. She'll be back in a few moments. Did you say your kits are coming? Oh gosh. I'll be back as soon as I can. In the mean time, Lionfang, find a stick of some sort and give it to Thunderscar to bite on. I'll be back before you can say 'mouse'." With that, he dashed off.
ReplyDeleteLIonfang found a nice, thick stick, and dashed over ot the nursery. He dropped it beside Thunderscar. Thunderscar said"Thank-" The rest of her words were cut off as a shudder went through her belly. Quickly, she grabbed the stick in her teeth.

Ripplestep dashed in with Rainfall on her heels. She quickly grabbed a few leaves she brought with her and pushed them to Thunderscar. 'Here. Chew these. It will make most of the pain go away.' She felt her stomach, 'Your kits will be coming soon.'

ReplyDeleteThunderscar quickly ate the leaves. They tasted somewhat bitter, but Thunderscar ate all of thm. She grimaced as the first ripple of pain flashed through her belly. She closed her eyes, and bravely bore it. At some point, Thunderscar heard the stick crack.
ReplyDeleteLIonfang poked his head in. "Is she going to be ok?" he asked Ripplestep.
Ripplestep nodded, and she quickly crouched down near the queen. "The first ones coming..."

ReplyDeleteThunderscar woke up, and noticed soemthing was wrong! Her kits were missing! Heart pounding, she ran out of the nursery to the leader's den.
ReplyDeleteDreamdance poked her head in. "This is the nursery, you two!" she mewed, grabbing two kits, one red and one gray. Looking around, she asked, "These aren't my kits. I was wondering if someone would take care of them for me. These are Cherrykit and Breezekit."

ReplyDeleteBreezekit and Cherrykit followed Sunkit. "Where are they?" Cherrykit asked, exited again.
Sunkit scampered over to a nest, where two kits were fighting over a ball of fluff, while one sat on the side, grooming herself. "Guys!" he said. "This is Cherrykit and Breezekit! They're going to be our new denmates!"
ReplyDeleteNightkit looked up from the ball of fluff. "Hi," he said, just as Dawnkit tackled him to the ground. "Hi!" she exclaimed. "I'm Dawnkit!"
The cat who had been grooming herself smiled and bounded up to the two new kits. "I'm Poppykit!" she squealed. "Nice to meet you!"

"It's okay," Sunkit said, trying to cheer the other kit up. "I failed a lot when I tried to learned it, too. Try spreading your weight on all four paws, that way you won't loose balance as easily."

Dawnkit went over to Starkit. "Starkit. Won't we get in trouble?"
Brightbeam didn't notice anything; she was too busy grooming a protesting Whitekit.
(Eh, I'll play Brightbeam's kits for the sake of...them seeming alive and stuff XD)

"Get of me, mom!" Whitekit squealed as he tried to wriggle out of his mother's grasp.

I actually do think that Brightlegs is still a queen; her kits were Whitekit and Mistykit, and then Starshine's kits are Sunkit, Poppykit, Nightkit and Dawnkit, and then Icepool's kits are Badgerkit and Gingerkit. And if I remember correctly, Thunderscar's kits are Redkit and Starkit...)

Redkit and Starkit repleid at once. "We'll be fine! Come on! Don't you want to see the forest?" They raced out of the Nursery, and managed to get out into the forest without anyone seeing them. (Comment on Tree Place now?)
